Examples · Tinder · three made-up people · every answer is a sample

Eight Tinder prompts, before and after.

Eight Tinder prompts, each answered twice: the answer most people write, and a rewrite built from the same person's facts and counted against the 124-character limit. The three people below are invented; their jobs, cities, dogs and sourdough starters exist only on this page. A real profile is written only from your own twelve answers.

The four invisible words

Travel, food, laughing, no games. Almost every profile says them, so they are true and invisible at once. The rule behind all eight rewrites below: swap each general word for the specific version only you could write, and give the reader one easy thing to reply to.

Prompt names and the 124-character limit are as read on 17 October 2026 from published lists of the app's current prompts; Tinder introduced prompts in 2023 and changes the list, so check the wording and the counter in your app before you paste.

The three people

1. The key to my heart is

Dev · sample

Before · what most people write

“Good food and a good sense of humour.”

After · same person, same facts

“Eating the thing I made and asking what’s in it. I cook for a living; the question is the compliment.”

101 / 124 characters

Why it works. The first answer is on every third profile. The second uses Dev’s job and tells the reader exactly what to do on the first date.

2. My most controversial opinion is

Maya · sample

Before · what most people write

“Pineapple belongs on pizza.”

After · same person, same facts

“Quiz teams should be capped at four. Six is a committee, eight is a crowd, and the table of twelve knows who they are.”

118 / 124 characters

Why it works. Pineapple is the most common answer on the app, so it is no longer controversial. Maya’s is a real opinion from her real Sundays, with a jab a reader can push back on.

3. I won’t shut up about

Jo · sample

Before · what most people write

“My dog and travelling.”

After · same person, same facts

“Edible front gardens. Also my rescue greyhound, who is 70 km/h of pure cowardice and sleeps 19 hours a day.”

107 / 124 characters

Why it works. A number, a contradiction and an opinion in 110 characters. “My dog” became a dog you can picture.

4. We’ll get along if

Dev · sample

Before · what most people write

“You like food and don’t take yourself too seriously.”

After · same person, same facts

“You’ll eat the dish that went wrong and tell me why. Tuesday five-a-side, Sunday market, the rest is negotiable.”

112 / 124 characters

Why it works. A small test of character, then a week with a shape. The reader can see where they would fit.

5. Green flags I look for

Maya · sample

Before · what most people write

“Kindness, honesty, good communication.”

After · same person, same facts

“Says thank you to the bus driver. Admits when the quiz answer was right. Texts back within the day, not the minute.”

115 / 124 characters

Why it works. Three adjectives became three things a person does, each one checkable on a first date. The last one sets a pace without a lecture.

6. My biggest date fail

Jo · sample

Before · what most people write

“Spilled a drink on my date once.”

After · same person, same facts

“Took a date to see the van. The van would not start. We ate the picnic in the driveway and she still came on the second one.”

124 / 124 characters

Why it works. A fail with a recovery in it is the most likeable prompt on the app; the second date in the last clause is the point.

7. Don’t hate me if I

Dev · sample

Before · what most people write

“Fall asleep during the movie.”

After · same person, same facts

“Taste your food before you do. Occupational hazard; I will also fix it if it needs salt.”

88 / 124 characters

Why it works. An honest small flaw, explained by the one fact that makes Dev interesting, with an offer at the end.

8. Change my mind about

Maya · sample

Before · what most people write

“Pineapple on pizza.”

After · same person, same facts

“Parallel parking being a necessary life skill. I have a 100% record of finding a bigger space two streets away.”

111 / 124 characters

Why it works. The confession from the rest of Maya’s profile, turned into a debate the reader can start with one message.

Questions

What is the character limit for Tinder prompts?

124 characters per prompt answer, with three prompts on a profile, as read from published lists of the app's prompts on 17 October 2026; the counter in the app is the final word. Every rewrite on this page is counted and fits, which is why each is one or two short sentences with one concrete thing in it.

Which Tinder prompts get the most replies?

The ones that hand the reader a move: two truths and a lie, a controversial opinion that is mild and real, a date fail with a recovery, “change my mind about”. A prompt you can only answer with a list of nouns (“my dog and travelling”) gives them nothing to say back.

Should my Tinder prompts be funny?

Only in your own voice. A joke you would not say out loud reads as borrowed. Specific beats funny: a greyhound that sleeps 19 hours a day gets more replies than a line that tries to be clever, and it is true, which matters on the first date.

Do I still need a bio if I use Tinder prompts?

Yes, a short one. Prompts answer three questions; the bio says who you are and what you want in two lines. The same rule applies: no travel, food, laughing or “no games”; one specific thing a stranger can reply to.

Are Tinder prompts the same as Hinge or Bumble prompts?

Several overlap in wording (we'll get along if, two truths and a lie, my simple pleasures), but Tinder's 124-character limit is tighter than Hinge's 150, so answers are cut harder. The method is the same on all three. Nine Hinge prompts; eight Bumble prompts.

Can someone write my Tinder profile for me?

Yes. We write the bio, three prompt answers with two spares each and an opener from your twelve answers, in one day, for $49, counted to fit. We never log in to your account or message anyone for you; you paste the words in yourself.

Samples only. Maya, Dev and Jo are invented for this page; no real person's profile appears here. Prompt names are Tinder's as published. Nobody can promise matches. For adults 18+. Not dating advice or therapy. Not affiliated with Hinge, Bumble, Tinder or any app.
